After talking about what we thought dragons could be and whether they were real or not, Ms Finikin found a play. We practised and then performed it to Friendly 14.
A slight aside
We were talking about animals that were used during the Middle Ages when Katia exclaimed, “I remember the rabbit last year!” “What rabbit?” asked her group mates. Katia told us about the rabbit that grew fur. We were excited. Luckily Ms Finikin’s mum (Mrs Finikin) had bought Ms Finikin another rabbit kit. Thanks, Mrs Finikin!
Castles
One of our buddies said, “I remember making the Lego castle with Omsin and Toi last year.” The group then decided it wanted to do a unit on castles.
Here is some of what we have done so far.
While looking at a game where we dress a knight we wondered what the gear was.
We discovered that real shields are very heavy.
Another Goodbye
On Friday we said another goodbye. Dawon’s mum has a new job in Christchurch. Dawon and Bunny Brown are off to make lots of new friends.
May Holidays
We talked about what we did in the holidays. We recorded without a script. We have come a long way in learning English and are much more confident than when we first started at Hokowhitu School.
Goodbye to our friend
One of our friends is going to Hamilton to live. She is taking Shakespeare with her. We will miss her and hope her new ESOL class will correspond with us.
The Hissing Bush
One of our group mates enjoyed the book The Hissing Bush so much she illustrated and recorded her own copy.
The Gingerbread Boy and Girl
One of our classmates rewrote the story of The Gingerbread Man with her sister. She worked hard to make it sound good.
Dad gets teased some more
One of our class mates decided she would like to recreate our Teasing Dad story herself. She worked hard to draw the pictures and write out the text. She practiced a long time so she would sound really good reading it. Here it is.
Lost teeth
One of our buddies came to class with her teeth in a plastic bag!
