Stuck

Shoki shared his library book with us. We really enjoyed it. We thought about how we would get the things out of the tree. We were working on problem solving and imagination.

We recommend Stuck because the end is funny because Floyd gets his kite back so forgets about everything else, including his favourite shoes.

Show and Tell

We read Show and Tell by Jen McVeity. Every day show and tell has an assigned letter. Every day Ish brings food, Marina brings a book, and Jackie brings an animal. Every day something goes wrong with the animals and yet every day the teacher lets it happen.

We were learning to follow patterns in our story writing and insert humour into our work.

This Little Critter

When Charlotte brought a ladybug to ESOL last week we talked about it and found out we can’t keep them as pets because they eat aphids and we don’t know where to find them. We read This Little Critter by Greg Banks. We drew pictures of critters and wrote about them.

EOTC Week

Our whole school was involved in the EOTC  week (Education Outside of The Classroom). We did many exciting things during the week and some of us didn’t get to come to ESOL because we were too busy. On the Friday everyone went to Masterton. It took nine buses to fit the whole school. It was a great day out. One family missed out on the week because they had to go to their aunt’s funeral in Auckland. Our sympathies to them and their extended family. Here we are reading our stories about the best part of the week for us.

The Best Cake

We read “The Best Cake” and “A Birthday Cake for Ben” by Beverley Randell. We talked about cake and looked at pictures of cakes. We drew our favourite types of cake then read out our statements.
