We wrote about what we did over the holidays.
Leena read a book about the equipment in playgrounds. She thought about what we have in our playground and drew pictures of them.

Two of the children from Reading Recovery had been reading The Flying Fish. They came to ESOL and we helped them read the book then we taught them how to make a koi kite.
We read Brave Triceratops by Beverley Randell. We took a few pages each to illustrate and recorded it for your entertainment.
One of our group-mates found a dreidel from an ESOL group from years ago. “What’s this?” he said. “Can we make one?” The children had to find out about the dreidel and make one for homework. We used a net from Enchanted Learning. Here is our video of us playing the dreidel game.
Here are a couple of stories from our holidays.
We had been reading Snow on the Hill Road. This made us think about times we had seen snow. We haven’t seen it often so it is very exciting.
We read the story The Big Toe. We thought about what the ‘something’ that wants its toe back could be. We wrote about it and drew pictures of what we thought it was.
We have been finding out about penguins over the last couple of weeks. Here are some of the things we have learned.
When we came in to our room we saw that Mrs Higgs had left a picture of Up on the board from when she was working with someone in the morning. Ms Finikin hasn’t seen Up and we were telling her all about it. We wrote about the movie and some of us recorded our work. We like Up.
We started this year with a book about polar bears. This got us interested and so we went home and found out some more information about them.
Today we talked about what we enjoyed in ESOL this year. After that we ate Japanese snacks and got our end-of-year presents.
Even though we have had a small group this year, we have enjoyed ourselves and learnt lots.
