We looked at a book called The way I go to school. We talked about how we go to school. We wrote about this with various levels of help, and drew pictures. We had to ask for the different coloured pencils, because manners are useful skills to acquire.

One of our Nepali classmates decided to practise the alphabet of his country. I bet his parents are proud of him.

We made number posters using our home languages as well as English and Māori. We had to work very hard to write the correct word on the corresponding page. This year, we only had one error, and one triple repetition of ‘Panch’ (5 in Urdu) by the same person. It was a good exercise in following directions, as well as an effort to keep our home languages in use
We are learning about shapes. The shape stamps come with other stamps. We are learning about animals and objects. We are talking about our pictures.
One of my students was confused about her birth date – hers is 3.5.****. Today is 5.3.26. We read, “A birthday cake for Ben” , then wrote about our own birthday cakes.
