Ice cream

We made ice cream. Some of us used a container and some of us used a plastic bag.

Some of us added too much vanilla essence and realised there can be too much of a good thing.

“We had to follow instructions. One was. to put it in the bag and one was to put it in a box with ice around it. The box one worked by lunch time. The bag one worked in about 30 minutes.”

“With the box one, I don’t think we need to mix it too hard because if you mix it too hard it will turn to water again.”

“Don’t put too much good stuff (vanilla) in or it will taste disgusting as.”

“We need to put lots of salt in the ice because when we put the salt in, the ice was not melting.”

“I like making ice cream because it was fun and I like ice cream.”

“We put ice in a bag and we put milk in a bag. We put salt in the ice. We put flavour in the milk. We put the bag of milk in the bag of ice and we mixed them around.”

“I really liked the ice cream. It was really tasty.”

“It was delicious but I think we should have added sugar, but I don’t think that other kids could make it with sugar.”

Telescopes

Milyn taught us how to make a telescope out of toilet paper rolls and cardboard.

The girls used rolls they brought from home. It was easy with the rolls.

The boys used cardboard. It was harder because they had to cut it into strips and tape it to the right size. We had to retry to get it right.

“Sometimes, if you don’t have toilet paper rolls, you can use cardboard, but if you do have toilet paper rolls you have to have three.”

“Making the telescopes is fun and a bit hard because the tape is way too sticky and then it goes in to a ball.”

“If you make a telescope, you can decorate it.”

“It was fun to make telescopes and you can pretend you are a pirate.”
